Noise noise noise

There are several not well known laws of physics at work in my office:

(1) If I need to write a presentation, the hallway becomes filled with loud, talkative people.
(2) If the people stop talking, something outside will start beeping.
(3) If the presentation is very boring, (1) and (2) repeat frequently
(4) If I don't feel like writing the aforementioned presentations I suddenly want M&Ms and have no dollar bills to pay for said M&Ms.
