A letter to President Obama

Regarding Don't Ask/Don't Tell
Dear President Obama,
I am a scientist who longed to be part of the military; shortly before finishing my Ph.D. I nearly joined the Navy but came across the question "are you a homosexual" and refused to lie; this took place in 1990 before Don't Ask/Don't Tell.
Nearly twenty years later we're losing the military's brightest and best - in key positions - simply because they choose to be candid about their lives. Lt. Dan Choi is a telling example of why this policy is a failure.
Please uphold your campaign promise and end the Don't Ask/Don't Tell policy.
Respectfully,
Stefanie Harvey, Ph.D.
