What a perfect time to update LJ.
I anticipate stream of consciousness and an obligatory Earl picture, so let's
Work
As part of a kick-off for a site wide initiative we had the "Company Games" where you earned raffle tickets for your division by playing games and a couple of the raffle tickets will be chosen for a Kindle Touch and Fire give away later this week. There was also a "Campus Walk" - each division on site had a different colored t-shirt and there was some sort of who-can-get-the-most-walkers competition.
Argh. I hate those things. (1) Waste of my time. Want to improve morale? Pay us more and give us more PTO. (2) Just because I do well in small groups does not mean I enjoy large groups. On the positive side we do have a gym as well as exercise classes available during the day.
Teaching
Finished two of the three classes that began in January and am three weeks away from being done entirely. Not quite sure what I'll do this summer. One my teaching colleagues and I will be writing a textbook draft and pushing that to several publishers. Definitely will try to add mileage to my runs.
Health
Taking supplements, eating well, and still exercising regularly. Last week I started a nutrition plan and cut back on my overall intake. Lost 4.5lbs most of which is likely water. My goal is to drop twenty pounds; I gained 16lbs in the last two years and that's creating havoc on my knees. The GF is an excellent cook and our wine collection is substantial. Also, I lack will power. Have cut out sugar, wheat, pasta, and high glycemic index foods.
Time for an obligatory Earl picture! We were relaxing on the sofa last night.
