My MacBook battery is NOT charging - and kindly tells me so. Adapter light stays green, does not go to orange.
I have all S/W updates.

Two possibilities: Logic board (ugh) or battery (preferred). Fortunately have 2 years left on Apple Care.

A lot of MacBooks have trouble with the battery. I had to have mine replaced. After it started doing this, it eventually developed a bulge. You need to look up the cycles left on your battery and stuff like that. Apple wouldn't replace it at first, but they would when the cycle vs. health numbers got to a certain point.

I've a similar yet different experience with my batteries.

They're under warranty for one year, even if you have extended apple care. I've had the failure of loosing charge while under 300 cycles. One time the battery was a year and just plus old. I paid for that one. The *next* time i had a cranky battery, i got the replacement before the year was up.

I've also had a power cord problem that sounds like yours. That was replaced promptly.

I'd suggest an apple store visit with the service folks. Palo Alto's store seems to be able to turn around a diagnosis and fix pretty quickly, sometimes time to go have a meal nearby.

Check power adaptor & cable: - that it connects properly from wall to wart to plug into mac; - that it has proper DC voltage out of it. I've seen this happen before and the remedy was that one of the connections was loose.

This is what has happened to my (piece of crap) Dell twice. Both times it was the power cord.
