In the near future, I will have much more free time.

What do you do with your free time. I am likely going to spend more time on my practice and doing Yoga, but was curious about *you*.

Of course, this assumes you have free time, lol.

Now that I lost my job:
- Learning about my illness and trying different (sometimes difficult) treatments.
- Weeding and gardening. I want to start a medicinal and kitchen herb garden this summer.
- Learning to cook more gluten-free dishes, esp. simple quick ones.
- Being a healthcare activist and sometimes educator.
- Learn about app development for the iPhone and web technologies.
- Talking short walks and often bringing my camera to capture wildlife and flora.
- Going out for coffee, and hopefully spending time with a friend.
- I'm hoping to go swimming and hot tubbing more, too.
- I'm hoping to try a local yoga class.

I don't realyl have free-time. I sort of over-schedule as a way to deal with my depression and anxiety. The stuff that approaches free-time stuff are some of my dance classes, barn dance, and doing photography walks.

Sadly, I seem to piss away a lot of free time. Once I am at my computer with the TV going, I am a lost cause. I am feeling my age and need to get walking again. Before I can't!!

Oh good, I'm not the only one! :) I have so much free time that I wish I could parcel it up and donate it to people who wish they had more. I'm trying to see this as a much-needed lesson in...something. And maybe it's not been a bad thing since I've learned to be much more calm and stress less.

Yeah I do this, too.

What I am trying to get myself to do is to use free time to study some of the things I know I need for work: middle Egyptian and functional analysis.

But TV and internet mostly! There is a reason I have 1785 ratings entered at Netflix. :-/

I make ridiculous things that are intended to have practical application but which (by the wee hours at which they are finished) often fall wide of the mark. :)

Also, I bake tasty treats for people.

Read some of my favorite books or ones I haven't read yet.
Research some of my favorite subjects.
Read news obsessively (not recommended).
Take drives through the country and find new beautiful places to go.
Watch great shows and films on DVD or on TV.
Bake.
Cook.
If I really had time, I would learn to sew my own clothes.

I spend a great time on LJ, which is either learning about and communicating and caring about others or "surfing." Novels. Creative messing around, whether video, photos, crochet, jewelry, painting. My inner critic and inner taskmasters make "fun" painful, so i think that's why i am such a dilettante. As soon as i get a sense of what could be, the perfectionist really ruins the diversion. Satisfying my curiosity by reading. Trying to identify birds, wildflowers.

When I am lucky enough to find some, I cook, read or go to cultural-type things (museums, concerts, plays, etc.)

I've been toying with the idea of taking up crochet again but haven't really found the motivation/time for it.

I go to Bally Total Fitness.. but I wonder if the fact that it's a part of my daily life if I should call that free time...

I like to hang out at my local independent record store and debate the merits of The Beatles being the best band of all time!

Read
Chat on the internet
Write - poetry, stories, or journals
Sew - at the moment making patchwork cushions by hand as my machine needs servicing.
Knit - at the moment making a fluffy blanket to sit under.
Visit friends
Play computer games
Occasionally juggle badly.
Live action roleplay - playing sort of to type I play a dominatrix in a brothel.
I really need to get back into swimming again.

Any of the above depending on mood and inclination

Here are some things I've done with free time over the years: Read, write stuff I want to write (vs stuff my clients or employers want me to write), ponder, meditate, exercise, wander around the city, reconnect with old friends, do yoga or martial arts, mess around with old cars, take a class.

Between school and work, I have little free time. When school is finally over I will:
-Volunteer to mentor at risk high school students (weekly)
-Excercise
-Take dance lessons
-*Hopefully* chase a new baby around

When I have free time, I most enjoy doing whatever I feel like at the time. Which may be reading, surfing the web, watching TV or a movie, listening to music, sleeping, cooking and eating something nice... I think I enjoy just having unstructured time in which I can go with whatever I most feel like doing.

Enjoy your free time! :^)

I take advantage of the opportunity!

I think about those things I miss doing that I've been "too busy" or "too tired" or what ever other excuse I've had for not doing them and think about getting them back into my routine. Preferably in new ways that'll survive my next round of no-free-time.

In specific, this time around I'm:
* Reading, a lot. Mostly professional development, some personal development, a little fiction.
* Blogging, a little. Few LJ posts, several comments. More involved with my online friends.
* Traveling, a bit. Quick weekend hops to see friends and family. It's a great thing to do, and something I let fall by the wayside.
* Get outside, a ton. I've been outside in daylight for a long walk or bike ride nearly every day since I left my job.
* Get organized. Tackle a bunch of those annoying life-messes that just need a little focused time and attention.
* See people, cultivate friendships. Having freed a huge amount of attention and emotional bandwidth means I can pay it onto other social connections.
