What do you do in your free time?

In the near future, I will have much more free time.
What do you do with your free time. I am likely going to spend more time on my practice and doing Yoga, but was curious about *you*.
Of course, this assumes you have free time, lol.

Date: 2009-05-15 03:37 am (UTC)- Learning about my illness and trying different (sometimes difficult) treatments.
- Weeding and gardening. I want to start a medicinal and kitchen herb garden this summer.
- Learning to cook more gluten-free dishes, esp. simple quick ones.
- Being a healthcare activist and sometimes educator.
- Learn about app development for the iPhone and web technologies.
- Talking short walks and often bringing my camera to capture wildlife and flora.
- Going out for coffee, and hopefully spending time with a friend.
- I'm hoping to go swimming and hot tubbing more, too.
- I'm hoping to try a local yoga class.

Date: 2009-05-19 12:29 am (UTC)What I am trying to get myself to do is to use free time to study some of the things I know I need for work: middle Egyptian and functional analysis.
But TV and internet mostly! There is a reason I have 1785 ratings entered at Netflix. :-/

Date: 2009-05-15 04:56 am (UTC)Research some of my favorite subjects.
Read news obsessively (not recommended).
Take drives through the country and find new beautiful places to go.
Watch great shows and films on DVD or on TV.
Bake.
Cook.
If I really had time, I would learn to sew my own clothes.

Date: 2009-05-15 04:56 am (UTC)I spend a great time on LJ, which is either learning about and communicating and caring about others or "surfing." Novels. Creative messing around, whether video, photos, crochet, jewelry, painting. My inner critic and inner taskmasters make "fun" painful, so i think that's why i am such a dilettante. As soon as i get a sense of what could be, the perfectionist really ruins the diversion. Satisfying my curiosity by reading. Trying to identify birds, wildflowers.

Date: 2009-05-15 02:19 pm (UTC)I think about those things I miss doing that I've been "too busy" or "too tired" or what ever other excuse I've had for not doing them and think about getting them back into my routine. Preferably in new ways that'll survive my next round of no-free-time.
In specific, this time around I'm:
* Reading, a lot. Mostly professional development, some personal development, a little fiction.
* Blogging, a little. Few LJ posts, several comments. More involved with my online friends.
* Traveling, a bit. Quick weekend hops to see friends and family. It's a great thing to do, and something I let fall by the wayside.
* Get outside, a ton. I've been outside in daylight for a long walk or bike ride nearly every day since I left my job.
* Get organized. Tackle a bunch of those annoying life-messes that just need a little focused time and attention.
* See people, cultivate friendships. Having freed a huge amount of attention and emotional bandwidth means I can pay it onto other social connections.
